SHORT FACTS

Strategy: IF PAN is a major condensed matter research institute in Poland. It has a long and well-documented track record in setting new directions in the physics of materials and in pioneering studies of the correlation structure–property of materials at different scales. Furthermore, apart from the main stream of basic science, a number of market-successful materials-related innovations has nucleated in IF PAN.

Employees: IF PAN employs approximately 400 people, including 41 full professors, 29 associate professors, 77 researchers with a PhD degree, and over seventy Polish and foreign PhD students.

History: The institute was established on 24th September 1953 by a Government decision. It was rooted in the physics faculties of seven universities. The institute was soon recognized as a countrywide scientific institution conducting research in many areas of experimental and theoretical physics.

ACTIVITIES
